The Staggering Magnitude Of Grief In The Workplace
Failing to recognize or choosing to ignore emotional trauma and grief in the workplace doesn’t make it go away or mean that it is not real.
Avoiding the traumatized person helps you, but it only makes matters worse for them.
A team feeling like they have to “walk on eggshells” around a traumatized/grieving employee leads to frustration for the group and the individual. This behavior is disruptive and unproductive.
The most frequent statement my brother, Guy, hears from the hundreds of families he serves a year is, “I am dreading going back to work.”
Benefits and policies can never replace the impact of leadership when dealing with an emotionally traumatized employee.
In this video clip, my brother, Guy, talks about the magnitude of grief in the workplace on a daily basis.
