“It’s Just Business Not Personal” Is BullS–t

“𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹…𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀” 𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗦- – -𝗧

We spend so much of our lives working that we often find it difficult to separate what we do from who we are.

Yet, when an employee struggles with an emotional personal change event, we expect them to separate that trauma and emotions from the work environment.

Or, when an organization embarks on initiatives that create change in people’s work or possibly threatens their employment, we expect them to understand the changes are what the business needs, and it is not personal.

The best leaders recognize that LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, and RELATIONSHIPS REQUIRE AN EMOTIONAL CONNECTION.

Demonstrating genuine 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 and creating an 𝘌𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺/𝘗𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦 environment are what leaders should strive to accomplish.

In this 𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 segment, Jeanie Coomber and I discuss how the emotional component of change requires leaders to keep the word HUMAN in human resources.
