GriefLeaders Co-founder Featured in SHRM Article

GriefLeaders was humbled by the request to be interviewed by Kathleen Doheny as part of her research for an article for the Society For Human Resources (SHRM).

While the article focuses on grief related to the loss of a loved one due to COVID, the advice and guidance discussed applies to employees returning to work from any emotionally traumatic life event.

Thank you, Kathleen and SHRM, for shedding light on this unspoken leadership challenge, which costs US company’s $75 billion annually in lost productivity, according to a study by The Grief Recovery Institute.

While many organizations may believe they are immune to emotional trauma and grief in the workplace, nothing could be further from the truth.  The same pre-COVID study referenced above estimated as many as one in four adults are suffering from the effects of grief.

The fact is that leading emotionally traumatized or grieving employees impacts every organization and every leader at some point, and it is the least talked about, least trained, costly leadership challenge a leader will face.
