Grief Is The Human Condition
My good friend and colleague, Mark DeLuzio, and I have been conducting a series of webinars on 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 and the impact of grief/emotional trauma in the workplace.
In this video clip, Mark shares an insight he has had regarding this topic.
The insight is that grief is a human condition and a natural reaction to a dramatic change in our lives.
As such, everyone grieves, and that grief extends well beyond just those who have lost a loved one.
Grief in the workplace extends to anyone who is impacted by change in their personal or work lives.
Therefore, there is always an elephant in the room, and that elephant must be acknowledged and dealt with.
The elephant is grief, and effective leaders realize their leadership style must be adaptable to support their people during those times, thus demonstrating true 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦.
Whether the emotional trauma is due to a personal crisis, such as a death, divorce, or significant illness diagnosis, or whether the impact of organizational changes drives the grief.
Have a look.
I think you will find the discussion insightful and relevant.
